Theni (Tamil Nadu) [India], October 15 (ANI): Fans of superstar Rajinikanth celebrated the theatrical release of 'Jailer 2' with firecrackers and festivities outside Vettri Theatre in Theni, Tamil Nadu, on Thursday, as audiences arrived with their families for the film’s first-day shows.
The film, starring Rajinikanth and produced by Sun Pictures, opened in theatres on October 15.
Early in the morning, fans and youngsters gathered outside the Theni theatre, bursting firecrackers and marking the release with enthusiastic celebrations.
A woman who arrived at the theatre with her son and daughter spoke about her longstanding admiration for the superstar and her expectations for the sequel.
“I have been a die-hard Rajinikanth fan since childhood and have watched all his films from the beginning. I watched the first instalment of Jailer and was eager to watch the second part as well. Even at this age, his energy has not diminished. I have come with great expectations to watch Jailer 2,” she said.
The release also saw a family outing shaped by different cinematic loyalties. A young man at the theatre said he was a fan of actor Vijay, while his mother supported Rajinikanth.
“I am a Vijay fan, while my mother is a Rajinikanth fan. We have come to watch the film together as a family,” he said.
He added that Rajinikanth’s films were enjoyed by everyone in the family, prompting them to watch the sequel together.
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, 'Jailer 2' is a 2026 Tamil-language action thriller and the sequel to the 2023 blockbuster 'Jailer'.
The film features Rajinikanth alongside SJ Suryah, Vidya Balan, Mithun Chakraborty, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu and Mirnaa Menon.
