Minister Janeesh attacked with CPI(M) leadership's knowledge, alleges Keralam government

Kannur (Keralam) [India], October 1 (ANI): The Keralam government on Thursday condemned the alleged attack on Sports Minister and Youth Congress state president OJ Janeesh in Kannur, alleging that DYFI-CPI(M) workers carried out the attack with the knowledge of CPI(M) leadership.
According to a press release issued by the Keralam CMO, the government said the alleged attack was "unacceptable" and claimed that the conspiracy behind the incident was clear. It said that those who allegedly attacked the minister, as well as CPI(M) and DYFI leaders accused of conspiring to carry out the attack, would be brought before the law.
The government further alleged that Janeesh's vehicle had been targeted in attacks on several occasions and said that incidents in Payyannur and Taliparamba were a continuation of the attack carried out against former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.
The statement alleged that the CPI(M) was attempting to create unrest in the state to overcome a crisis it was facing following its poor performance in the elections.
"The CPI(M) continues to function like a criminal mafia," the government alleged.
The government said that if the CPI(M) attempted to organise violent protests by mobilising criminal and contract groups, it had a responsibility to put an end to such activities.
It also questioned whether the CPI(M)'s opposition was linked to Janeesh leading a Youth Congress protest against the Election Commission and the BJP government, alleging that the Election Commission had acted unconstitutionally.
The government further warned the CPI(M) and groups allegedly associated with it against assuming that they could continue the violence that it alleged had taken place in Kerala over the past decade.
It said that those responsible for the alleged attack, as well as those behind the alleged conspiracy, would be brought to justice. (ANI)
