Uttar Pradesh, Japan's Yamanashi Prefecture sign MoU to boost legislative ties, cooperation in education, tourism, agriculture

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], August 21 (ANI): In a significant step to strengthen friendly and institutional ties between Uttar Pradesh and Japan's Yamanashi Prefecture, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Yamanashi Prefectural Assembly of Japan and the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly on Friday.
The agreement aims to encourage regular dialogue, mutual understanding, and the exchange of experiences between the two legislatures.
Speaker of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Satish Mahana, welcomed the delegation from the Yamanashi Prefectural Assembly of Japan. The Japanese delegation was taken on a tour of the Assembly complex and briefed about the functioning of the House, its role, and its historical and democratic legacy. On the occasion, the Speaker presented a memento to the delegation as a symbol of friendship and goodwill.
The MoU was signed by Satish Mahana, Speaker of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, and Hidenori Miyamoto, Chairman of the Yamanashi Prefectural Assembly. Under the agreement, both sides expressed their commitment to developing mutually beneficial relations between Uttar Pradesh and Yamanashi and further strengthening the close and friendly ties between the two regions.
Under the MoU, mutual visits, information exchange, and exchange activities between the two legislatures will be encouraged. Both sides will share their working systems, procedures, and experiences. Emphasis has been placed on enhancing direct interaction between public representatives and developing a better understanding of both regions through reciprocal delegation visits.
Speaker Satish Mahana also briefed the delegation on Uttar Pradesh's development journey and the role of the Legislative Assembly. He said that Uttar Pradesh is a rapidly developing state and offers vast opportunities for cooperation and partnership between the two regions.
During the meeting, Uttar Pradesh's rich cultural and spiritual heritage was also highlighted. The Japanese delegation was informed about the unique significance of Kashi, one of the world's oldest living cities, and the Buddhist Circuit of Uttar Pradesh. This is expected to further strengthen cultural ties and people-to-people connections between the two regions.
The MoU provides for promoting cooperation and exchanges in various areas of mutual interest, including economy, tourism, agriculture, education, and human resource development. Both sides also agreed to explore opportunities for collaboration in other sectors as required.
Exchange programmes and cooperative projects will also promote the sharing of technology, knowledge, and skills between the two regions.
The agreement between Uttar Pradesh and Yamanashi is being viewed as an important step towards strengthening broader India-Japan relations at the state and prefectural levels. Economic, industrial, technological, and cultural cooperation between the two countries has been expanding steadily.
In this context, legislative-level dialogue and delegation exchanges are expected to create stronger opportunities for cooperation in investment, skill development, education, tourism, and several other sectors.
The MoU reflects the commitment of both legislatures to friendly exchanges and cooperation. Its objective is to create a foundation for future exchanges and joint activities. (ANI)
